An Evening of Innovative Science

On Thursday, June 27th, Tower Cancer Research Foundation hosted a Scientific Reception and lab tour at UCLA. Guests experienced an enlightening evening dedicated to cutting edge cancer research.

Dr. Steven Jonas, a UCLA physician-scientist specializing in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, led an interesting discussion about his team’s current projects in progress at the Broad Stem Cell Research Center.  His research is primarily focused on the design of nanotechnologies that enable rapid, safe, cost-effective, and efficient delivery of genes and genome-editing machinery to immune and stems cells for manufacturing new gene and cellular therapies. In other words, they’re working to expand treatments to under-served populations worldwide. Guests toured the lab and interacted with the team of doctors to learn about their research discoveries and clinical applications.
