Cedars Sinai Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute and its newly established Research Center for Health Equity will develop a program to reach and provide cancer education to underserved, low-income, and diverse Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer identified (LGBTQ) communities, inclusive of African American, Latino, LatinX, Asian, Pacific Islander, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Armenian, Persian and Arab individuals in Los Angeles.
A grant from TCRF will support the development of a program to reach and provide cancer education to underserved, low-income, and diverse Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer identified (LGBTQ) communities in Los Angeles. Through a LGBTQ stakeholder engagement process, the program will identify barriers to prevention and access and develop sensitive materials and messages to empower community members to access cancer prevention and screening programs. A key objective will include the development of a regional action plan to address cancer disparities in the LGBTQ communities and strategies to impact social determinants that result in poor outcomes for this community, in addition to education and referral to screening services in LGBTQ communities throughout Los Angeles.
