A grant from TCRF will support the Improving Physical Activity After Cancer Treatment (IMPAACT) study examines the effect of prescribed exercise on improving psychosocial burden and risk factors for chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis. At no cost to participants, the study provides cancer survivors with supervised training three days a week for nine months. Each participant would be assessed at three time-points: at the beginning, halfway through, and at the conclusion of the 9-month exercise program. Outcomes from the longitudinal study will help to better inform survivorship care plans for cancer survivors.
