Specifically, this grant will support the Pablove Shutterbug program in Southern California, an arts education program that teaches children and teens living with cancer how to find their creative voice through the art of photography. Due to COVID-19, this program is even more critical for kids with cancer, as their lives have become increasingly socially isolated due to their inability to interact with others. While Shutterbugs has typically been offered in person, we have recently pivoted and are offering all Shutterbugs programming virtually, which means that kids with cancer throughout Southern California will have the opportunity to participate in the program. Barriers such as transportation, physical health and family situations are now diminished due to the virtual aspect of the program.
