Michelle Akda

Hi there my name is Michelle and I am a Dance Instructor and Personal Trainer!

My career in Group Fitness and Personal Training started in 2011 after taking a Zumba class. I loved it so much I decided to get certified to teach. I was then lucky enough to begin teaching immediately at Gold’s Gym in Hollywood.

Since then, I have taught in some of the best studios in Los Angeles such as Third Street Dance Studio, LA Dancefit and Swerve! I even taught for a week at a resort in St. Maarten! In 2016 I became a Certified Personal Trainer through AFAA and immediately began training private clients here in Los Angeles.

If 2020 has taught us anything it is that we must be flexible, creative and learn to pivot our lives. In early 2020 I moved all of my classes and training clients to Zoom. This pivot allowed me to master the group Zoom HIIT format! Not only am I a skilled instructor, I have learned to program great workouts with very little equipment as well as create an engaging fun atmosphere through the computer screen. I truly believe this is something one cannot teach but is a skill that is cultivated through repetition and practice. In July of 2021, I extended my education by getting certified as an ACE Senior Fitness Specialist and Brain Health Trainer. My desire to help our senior population grow older with grace, strength and mobility is a passion of mine born from the heartbreak of watching my mother deteriorate slowly from diseases of lifestyle. And as I become older, I wish to be an example of aging with as much health and vibrancy as humanly possible!

In addition to all of this, I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, and I am a Certified Life Coach through the Life Mastery Institute. I believe my training as a Therapist and Coach makes me a well rounded Health Practitioner as I care for my client’s wellbeing in a holistic way. I focus on health and wellness rather than a number on a scale or the size of a pair of jeans. I truly believe this focus will create lasting health rather than align with a fad diet or eating program. My goal as a trainer and dance instructor is to become a partner with my students in their journey towards health, healing and happiness!
